"Stella"

from Abstract Angels Series
"The stars call her by name
and she sees beyond their light.
Watching over a hurting world

whispering hope through darkest night"

"Stella" is an original 12x16 piece on a 1.5" gallery wrapped canvas. The background is thickly textured with lucious and grungy layers of cream, chocolates, and pink. Stella is done in charcoal, leaving the background visible, giving her an ethereal appearance. While I like my angels to be pretty, it's also important to me that they have some hint of their fierce side. I want that warrior to show through... the gritty shades of battle apparent, not overshadowing their beauty, but enhancing it. And of course, their light shining through it all.

I love the innocent faces of children, and they seem to find their way into my work most often.
