Mixed Media

Linda enjoys working in many mediums with a variety of new and vintage materials. Her mixed media pieces often tell stories and incorporate her own photography and writing. These mixed media paintings allow her to explore her more whimsical side.

This piece has so many layers of sweetness and joy, including vintage ephemera, music sheets, maps, storybook pages, paints, pastels, graphite, and charcoal. It is overflowing with inspirational phrases in the forms of doodles and cut and paste clippings.

"Life" is a 16x20 painting. There is layer upon layer of acrylics, charcoal, graphite, decorative paper, vintage ephemera, and original sketches. This piece is close to my heart as it reflects so many aspects of life that are precious to me, personally.

"Love" is an original 8x10 painting. There is layer upon layer of acrylics, graphite, stamps, fabrics, vintage sheet music, storybook pages, glazes, and stains. There's so much going on with the fabrics peeking through, their torn edges adding texture, a few words of the hymn visible in her wings, and the rose trim collar, slightly grunged.
